Wespenmusikanten
The nationally recognized Wespenmusikanten is an ethnic music ensemble open to members of the KHS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble with the instructor's prior approval. This ensemble is designed to coincide with the District Solo & Ensemble Festival (first Saturday of March) and give interested students the opportunity to explore authentic arrangements of German, Austrian, and Czech/Bohemian band music. Instrumentation is limited, and members must demonstrate sufficient musicianship to obtain approval. Students enrolling in this group are making a commitment to the performance expectations. Performances and practices outside of the school day, Solo & Ensemble, and the spring public performance are graded expectations of this ensemble. (Literally translated "Wespenmusikanten" means "wasp band" -- "papermaker" doesn't translate well into German, so we went with wasp!)
